Now that the Holidays are over, I want to share a favorite memory of mine. We visited my favorite store, I sat on Santa’s lap and shared with him, in a giddy high-pitched voice, all the things I wanted under my tree. This happened just last month when I stopped at Architectural Antiques in Northeast Minneapolis. OH WOW, words cannot describe the joy these places bring me. I walk around in a daze looking at all the things from old homes. I really can get lost in a place like this. Architectural Antiques is located at 1330 Quincy St NE Minneapolis and has been in business for 45 years. The warehouse has 20,000 square feet filled with anything and everything you can imagine from salvaged homes and buildings. This is a place you can find antique replacements or upgrades for your home. It is not someplace you can go bargain shopping. They sell hard to find items and they are priced accordingly. You will get a sore neck looking at all the hanging light fixtures, wall sconces and random fixture bases. And if you need a glass shade for your existing light fixture you will likely find it here, they have rows and rows of racks with glass shades. Looking for doors? They have a large selection. Certain items have a quick turnover, doors are one of those items. Now that you found the right door what about hinges, doorknobs and key plates? I took over 50 photos and captured about 1/10 of items in the store. Built in buffets, at least 3 of them. Two built in corner hutches. A 19-foot-long 1920’s bar that is 9 feet tall. I would love to have the 14-foot-long judges’ bench, even though the $10,500 price was a tad steep for my budget. If nothing else stop over and see the full dining room complete with wainscoting, built-in buffet, door trim, and the 4 leaded glass doors with leaded transom windows. This is setup full size and measures approximately 25 X 18. Yours for only $22,000. As I review these photos, I realize this is probably not the type of place they would have a mall Santa. But in my defense the guy had a red shirt, a beard and he was sitting down. Most importantly he said to look for the judges’ bench under my tree. It must be tied up in shipping somewhere. I provide these articles in the hope of helping you understand your home better and to do so with a little humor. Most people, including many agents, don’t know this information so please pass this along to your friends, family and neighbors. If they happen to ask who you recommend as a Realtor, don’t feel the need to beg them to call me…give me their name and number and I’ll do that!
Please stay well! Sincerely, Steve Freeman Comments are closed.
