Whatever that banging noise was it made me sit straight up from a sound sleep. Then I heard this low moaning along with gurgling that kept getting louder. It took me a while to remember where I was “oh yeah I live in Minnesota and we are having an extreme cold weather event”. That explains everything.
Last Spring, I showed a home where I literally stepped inside and ran out again coughing and warned the buyer to not go inside. Looking through the open door we could see every surface covered with mold so thick it looked like moss. It took several hours for me to get the smell off me. The highest and best use of that home is to burn it down!
I've been talking with many people who are either really bored, or truly frazzled depending on if there are young children in the home.
We don’t hear much about the devastating California “Camp Fire” on the news anymore. In many ways the real story is happening now. Those homeowners are now discovering valuable lessons about being under-insured or not insured at all. The result can mean paying for a significant portion, or all, of the rebuild out of pocket. On top of losing every personal possession and irreplaceable mementos some people are living in homeless shelters or even under bridges.
In every home I show, list and sell, I see rotted wood. The most common areas to find it are exterior doors, windows and wood siding that is in contact with soil or concrete.
